Does my cat have a urinary tract infection?

I have a male cat that has had issues urinating for months now. My husband and I have taken him to the vet twice and have spent over 200 dollars on vet bills trying to figure out whats going on. He pees frequently and pees blood. They have done two urinalysis’s and have came back saying no infections, crystals,or bladder stones. Any ideas what this can be or good foods to help him get better? Were stumped and getting frustrated we just want our cat to get better :-(

Has the vet considered cancer? If crystals and bladder stones were ruled out and the x-rays and urinalysis show no results, it might be time to think outside the box.

You can also do a phone consult with another vet at a different clinic, if you have copies of your cat’s test results.

i would definitely ask the veterinarian about x-rays and ultrasounds. sometimes it’s necessary to "take a look" rather than just trust lab reports.
you also havent mentioned how old your cat is.. i dont want to scare you or jump the gun, but cancer is also a possibility.
also, sometimes it’s necessary to be referred to a specialist, maybe an internal medicine veterinarian.
i know it can get expensive, which stinks, but sometimes it’s what you have to do to get to the root of the problem.
    good luck.

If he has blood in his urine, there of course is something wrong. I suggest a new vet who will do more tests. Ask you vet for a copy of these tests so that you can show them to the new one. Has he had a blood panel done? the vet should have suggested this if he could not find any information in the urine tests. Good luck.

some cats have whats called feline lower urinary tract disease. The urinary tract is so inflamed the kitty urinate blood. They don’t know what causes it. This could be what your cat has. Also some stones will not show up on x-ray. So it still could be some type of stone. Most vets just try and treat as best they can. Even if they knew what it was it’s no guarentee it won’t return. It usually does.
